CIRCULAR ECONOMY

Aluminum rims are an attractive feature of many cars – but also susceptible to mechanical deterioration, for example due to unintended contact with a roadside curb. With Messer’s Aluline He15 N as shielding gas, so-called laser cladding can be used to return wheels to their original condition. Once the rim has been thoroughly cleaned, the cladding or deposition welding is first applied to the damaged area and then the rim is machined on a CNC machine to reestablish its original dimensions. After a final clear powder coating, it is like new again. The repair also costs about 50 to 70 percent less than the cost of a new aluminum rim.
