HIGH-CARAT PURITY
When a gem glistens like a diamond and is also nearly as hard as one, it is most likely a stone made of corundum. Producing flawless artificial corundum takes high-purity raw materials and tremendous heat. Monocrystaline corundum is created from powdered aluminum oxide (Al2O3) exposed to an oxygen/hydrogen flame in special furnaces at 2,150 degrees Celsius. Depending on the specific needs, the high-purity oxygen required for this application comes from cylinders, bundles or an oxygen supply system.
